Access Technologies, Inc., (ATI) History
In 1994, Access Technologies, Inc., ATI, formed as a nonprofit organization to continue the work of the activities of the Assistive Technology Act of 1998 grant, which formed in 1990. Today, Oregon’s Statewide Assistive Technology Program is sponsored by the Oregon Department of Human Services, Seniors and People with Disabilities and is partially funded by a grant from Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) of the U.S. Department of Education. ATI administers Oregon’s Statewide Assistive Technology Program through a team of Certified Assistive Technology Specialists.

Today, ATI is recognized as the leader in ergonomic and assistive technology.

Our Board of Directors:

Davey Hulse Chair:
Davey is a blind technology user who is the CEO of a blindness-related transcription company: Braille Plus. He was on the governing board of the original Tech Act grant from 1989 to 1994. Davey was a founding ATI board member in 1994 and has served continuously on the board. He developed the current ATI business plan and is serving as Chairman for the ATI Board of Directors.

Ken Reinhart Vice Chair:
Ken retired from the National Forest Service near Prineville and is especially interested in safety and ergonomics. He is a stroke survivor with right side paralysis and has served as a Board Member for over seven years.

Carolyn McKay Secretary/Treasurer
Carolyn has been a consumer advocate as a member of the National Federation for the Blind; organizing several chapters. She has served on numerous Boards and organized Rallies for white cane safety, has served as an ATI Board Member for 1 year.

Mike Gardner
Mike has served as Board of Director for Access Technologies, Inc., for eleven years and is currently serving as Vice Chairman for ATI’s Board of Directors. He has previously served as Board Chair for the Umpqua Valley Disabilities Network and is an active Board member of the Umpqua Community College Budget Committee.

His background is varied in business, education, recreation and community. Mike has been using a wheelchair for 29 years. He maintains active memberships with a number of local community organizations.
