POSITION: Entry Level Assistive Technology Specialist - Intern

Starting Date: March 2008

SALARY: $10.00/hr

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
Access Technologies, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to assure that persons with disabilities in Oregon will be able to secure and effectively use assistive technologies.

As a full service assistive technology provider our team of Certified Assistive Technology Specialists have over 25 years of combined experience providing AT trainings, evaluations, and ergonomic assessments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contact businesses, service providers and consumer groups to provide information and trainings
  • Disseminate brochures and information packets
  • Coordinate and assist with training on assistive technology for local and state agency, business, educational, and community members
  • Assist with coordination of an equipment loan library
  • Set up demonstration labs as needed
  • Develop training material and conduct courses
  • Evaluate and train on new AT devices
  • Participate in regular meetings with President
  • Maintain recordkeeping system for project related activities
  • Prepare project related reports
  • Participate in technology related conferences and workshops
  • Local and statewide travel required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Prefer educational background in rehabilitation, occupational/physical/speech therapy, rehabilitation engineering, instructional technology; experience in the use of assistive computer and other technology for individuals with disabilities may substitute for required education; report writing; experience with recordkeeping systems; experience working with persons with varying degrees of ability; familiarity with computers and various types of adaptive equipment; excellent written and oral communication skills; must be customer oriented with customer service skills; experience in customer service related position helpful; knowledgeable in general office procedures; ability to lift, twist, bend, stoop, and kneel, repetitively; and provide own transportation for local and statewide travel.
