Financial Assistance
Several major gas, power, water, and internet companies offer free service, suspend service disconnections, and waive late fees to support Oregonians dealing with coronavirus.
Electricity
If you need help paying your electric bill, the Oregon Energy Fund is offering assistance; apply here or contact your county’s energy assistance program agency. This link contains the full list and contact information.
Internet Access
Charter is offering free Spectrum broadband and WiFi access for 60 days to households with a K-12 student or college student who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription. Installation fees will be waived for new student households as well.
Comcast, also known as Xfinity, is offering free WiFi hotspots to anyone who needs them - including non-Xfinity Internet subscribers. For a map of Xfinity WiFi hotspots, visit xfinity Wifi, and scroll to the map near the bottom of the page.
To connect to an Xfinity hotspot, select the “xfinitywifi” network name in the list of available hotspots and then launch a browser.
Telephone
Oregon Lifeline is a federal and state government program that reduces the monthly cost of phone or broadband services for qualifying low-income Oregon households.

Health Care
The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is the lead public health agency in the state on this crisis. Valuable updates are maintained the OHA website.
If your work status recently changed go to the OHP website to see if you are eligible for health insurance through the Oregon Health Plan (OHP).
If you have health insurance, Consumer and Business Services arranged for several insurance companies to waive co-pays and deductibles if you’re tested for COVID-19. This includes testing at an in-network doctor’s office, urgent care or emergency room.
This can be a very difficult time for people so if you’re struggling with a mental health problem please reach out to one of the many crisis lines available around Oregon.
Hospitalization Communication
Going to the hospital on any day can be stressful. Communicating in a fast paced environment when we don’t feel well can be challenging. In normal times, hospitals must give services that help you understand what is being said and are supposed to ask you what services you need.
The hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic will be very different. Take time now to consider what you will need to take with you if you go to the hospital and how you will communicate with doctors, nurses and other health care staff.
