Tired of waiting for a copy of a popular book? Planning a trip and wanting to take some good reading with you but limited on space? Or wouldn't it be great if you knew someone who had the time to read books to you? Well, check this digital talking book player out.

The State of Oregon provides services to visually impaired and print disabled Oregonians called Talking Book and Braille Services (TBABS).

With our digital player and a TBABS account (http://tbabs.org/) , you will have FREE access to download any NLS digital book you want, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No more wait lists; no more due dates; no more mailing books back and forth. And there are no limits: you can download as many books as you want.

This DA1 plays digital cartridges (DBs), including MP3 and WAV files. It has a variable speed control that permits speeding up or slowing down playback with no change in pitch. This unit is also equipped with a rechargeable battery and an electrical cord. The controls speak when you use them. Use this with or without headphones. It weighs just over 2 lbs.and works great!

To download the free books from TBABS, you will need:
A high-speed Internet connection
An active e-mail address
Knowledge of navigating the Web, filling out online forms, downloading large items and extracting (unzipping) files.
Purchased blank cartridge or USB flash drive (recommended 1-2 GB).
